*Governments and educational institutions must strive to provide dreams of a better nation to students, so that they can be part of country’s growth- Dy CM Manish Sisodia

*Every year lakhs of students leave educational institutions with an aspiration of a good paying job; If everyone aspires to be a job seeker, then who will become a job provider? Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum is the answer to this question- Dy CM Manish Sisodia *Children's thinking often gets restricted to good jobs, but Business Blasters has broken this barrier and taught children to think big by starting their own enterprise- Dy CM Manish Sisodia *DSEU Lighthouse is helping youth from low-income communities to fulfill their dreams by learning 21st century skills- Dy CM Manish Sisodia *Through Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum and Business Blasters, we aim to change the mindset of children so that they become job creators instead of job seekers in Delhi- Dy CM Manish Sisodia *Dy CM Manish Sisodia addresses 'Charcha 2022- Resilient Livelihoods For All' talks about developing new age Education Systems encouraging job creation and aspirational employment

Shri Manish Sisodia said that Delhi schools, including government and private schools, have 44 lakh students studying in them today. "But whenever they are asked about their future, they do not have clear answers or aspirations to explain. Most of their aspirations depend upon the needs and financial aspirations of their family members today. They always respond by saying that they need a “good and decent paying job” to support their family. All their aspirations are just stuck at getting “a good job” and nothing beyond that. To change this, it is the responsibility of governments to take a step further and decide where they want to see the youth of their country. Governments along with educational institutions need to have a dream for a better nation first, so that they can provide the same through education to the next generation," he said. The Deputy Chief Minister said that every year about 2.5 lakh children leave Delhi's schools with the only aspiration to get a good job every year. "If these children come out every year only to find a job, then who will be the job provider? The answer is neither with the governments nor with the educational institutions. As an answer to this question, Delhi Government has started 'Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum' (EMC) in Delhi government schools, where the focus is not only on entrepreneurship but also on developing a growth mindset among students. The focus of the education system has always been to complete the syllabus, get better results and keep the mindset as a side course. But great work is being done on developing an entrepreneurial mindset among students in Delhi government schools," he said. He further added that under this curriculum students are involved in discussions with renowned and successful entrepreneurs to help them develop an understanding of how businesses work and how one can learn from failures even. Students do various activities and conduct case studies to sharpen their entrepreneurial skills. Another major component of this curriculum is “Business Blasters” for students of Class 11-12, where students are given the seed money of Rs 2000 to establish their businesses. Shri Manish Sisodia said, “Students have performed much better than the expectations of the government, in Business Blasters. The said program has impacted students’ mindset positively and has developed the abilities like decision making, planning, risk management etc. In the first season of this program, many teams made lakhs of profits from their start-ups that were started with a cost of Rs 2000 or more. These businesses during the expo also got investments worth crores from investors across the country. Now these students are all set to join premier higher education institutions in Delhi such as DTU, IGDTUW, Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University (DSEU), NSUT directly.” The Deputy Chief Minister added that In India, children's thinking is often limited when it comes to aspiration, but business blasters have broken these barriers and taught children to think big ideas and work for them. *Youth say DSEU Lighthouse changed their life, along with skills* In the program, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the students of DSEU Lighthouse to know about the experiences. Mannu, a resident of a labour welfare camp in Okhla, told that after 12th her aspiration was to do a computer course and work in a professional place. But due financial instability in the family, she could not do it. Then a friend guided Mannu about the DSEU Lighthouse. She immediately joined the center and started pursuing a data entry operator course. Mannu said, “I got to know about the course as well as my areas of interest at the center. I had interest in social work but never knew that there is a course called BSW (Bachelors of Social Work). It was the center that guided me and helped me get the admission.” Prabhat, a resident of Tughlakabad village, is also a student of DSEU Lighthouse Kalkaji. Prabhat had to leave his studies after 10th due to financial constraints and family reasons. Prabhat did a course in Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis through Lighthouse. Here Prabhat came to know about his passion and now he is working hard to fulfill his dream in which Lighthouse is helping him. It is to be noted that Charcha is a platform set up by The Nudge Foundation for all stakeholders in India’s development to come together and chart the course towards a poverty-free India. Since its inception on May ‘20, the platform has enabled leading institutions and organizations in India’s development sector to host pivotal events that have shaped the narrative in a wide range of developmental topics. ================================
