Amazon Prime Day is not here yet but that doesn't mean you can't grab a bargain

Amazon Prime Day 2022 is just around the corner, and takes places on July 12 and 13 in the UK.

The day is the second biggest sale event of the year for the online retailer, behind Black Friday in November, and returns to its mid-July slot for the first time in a couple of years, following the coronavirus pandemic. The sale will likely see Amazon reduce the price of everything from its own Echo and Echo Dot devices to vacuum cleaners and air fryers.

Amazon typically launches daily deals alongside quickfire 'Lightning' deals that last for a couple of hours or until the product sells out. There are expected to be tens of thousands of discounts across the event which will last 48 hours.

A new deal of the day has just launched.

Shoppers can pick up this Fire 7 Kids Pro tablet for just £39.99. That's a big 60% off the original price of £99.99.

The tablet has a seven inch display, comes with 16GB of storage space and is in black colour but with the added children's friendly case. There's also a two-year worry-free guarantee and one year of Amazon Kids+.

Amazon Kids+ is an all-in-one subscription that gives kids access to thousands of kid-friendly books, movies, TV shows, educational apps, and games on compatible Fire, Android, iOS, and Kindle devices.

In addition to Kids+ content, Kids Pro tablets include access to a digital store. Children can request apps, while parents approve purchases and downloads.

The web browser comes with built-in controls designed to help filter out inappropriate sites and let parents add or block specific websites at any time. Stay in touch: children can make voice and video calls and send announcements over Wi-Fi to approved contacts with an Alexa-enabled device or the Alexa app.

The Amazon Echo Dot device is likely to be featured in the Amazon Prime Day sale. If you want to bag one now you can take advantage of this offer below, or you can wait until Tuesday as I think it's likely to be reduced further based on last year's sale.

At the moment, you can pick up the Amazon Echo Dot for just £37 for two of them. Usually, the popular product has an RRP of £49.99- so with a whopping 42% off one Dot, and the added bonus of buying two, it's one not to scroll past.

Did you know you can also get your food shop on Amazon?

Amazon has teamed up with Morrisons to offer consumers their food shop quickly, and sometimes shoppers can get same-day delivery.

One Instagram user, Lois Stewart, from Runcorn, discovered how brilliant the Amazon Prime perks can be with just a quick food shop order being placed.

Louis made her Amazon Prime food order at 11pm and it came less than 12 hours after the next day. There are so many other ways to make the most of Amazon's incredible services over the coming days, with two for one offers, free delivery slots and savings on all your outdoor, summery needs.

While deliveries are quick, you can also check Amazon Fresh and Morrisons for cheaper alternatives to shop- there are plenty of offers already live now on the website.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day is one of Amazon's biggest sales events of the year, aside from Black Friday which takes place in November. It's a day for Amazon Prime members to shop thousands of products on the Amazon website that will be reduced.

How do I take part?

In order to get the best deals during Amazon Prime Day shoppers must be a member of Amazon Prime. Only members of Prime will have access to the deals before they go live and only Prime members will be able to buy selected products at a certain price.

Non-Prime members may still be able to shop some of the sale, but not all of it, and the deals plus the prices won't be the same.

If you're not a member of Amazon Prime then you can sign up for a free 30 day trial here. After 30 days the membership costs £7.99 a month or £79 for the year. With Amazon Prime you not only get to shop in the Prime Day sale, but you also get Prime Video, unlimited Premium delivery, unlimited music streaming, unlimited photo storage and unlimited reading. Find out more or sign up here.

What deals can you get?

There are a range of deals to be had on Amazon Prime Day 2022. Thousands of products will be discounted so it depends on what it is you're after.

Right now there is an exclusive Prime Day offer which includes "two for £37" on the Amazon Echo Dot fourth generation device. There's also free delivery slots for your grocery shop on Amazon with Morrisons.

Ninja also has a sale on their products on Amazon, as well as Ring Doorbells, SodaStream and more. You can see all of the Amazon deals here.

Good morning and welcome to our Amazon Prime Day 2022 live blog. Gemma here, and I will be with you throughout today, bringing you the latest weekend deals before the big sales event takes place.

If you don't know by now that Amazon Prime Day takes place on Tuesday, July 12 then I'm not doing my job very well! But yes, all the Prime Day deals will go live next week. However there is still some bargains to grab and that's what I'll be here to tell you about today.

So keep your eyes peeled on our live blog today for deals, udpates, and tips on how to get the best out of Amazon Prime Day 2022.

Here's a tip spotted by our reporter Bethan:

The deal, which sees a number of gift cards reduced as much as 25 per cent off, was pointed out on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook Group.

It is ideal for birthday presents or if you’re planning on spending anyway - essentially sees customers buy bonus cash when buying gift cards.

The deal, which sees a number of gift cards reduced as much as 25 per cent off, was pointed out on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook Group.

This is a particularly good deal. The Fire 7 Pro for Kids is a very good starter tablet for your children and the price has dropped from £100 to just £40.

The seven-inch tablet also comes with a subscription to Kids+, which includes apps, games, music and more for children.

Amazon has launched Prime Day early by giving away free Amazon Echo Dot and Amazon Echo Show devices worth up to £75 with some of the deals.

The free Echo devices are available when you order a Ring wired doorbell at £35 or a Ring video doorbell for £60. The free devices mean buying a Ring and Amazon device bundle is cheaper than buying the Amazon device on its own in some cases, and offers a saving of up to £95 if you order the cheaper Ring option and choose an Echo Show 5 as the free option.

Bargain hunters have spotted an Amazon price trick that cuts the price of a bottle of Jack Daniels Legacy by more than the displayed price.

The 70cl Jack Daniels bottle is already reduced in the early Amazon Prime Day sale and is listed on the Amazon website as £28, down from £32.25 in the annual sale. Shoppers have spotted a further discount at checkout when another £8 is cut from the price automatically.

Users of deals website HotUKDeals spotted the price trick where bargain hunter AledJenkins posted: "Advertised for £28, but automatically takes £8 off at the checkout, bringing it down to 20 bucks"

Another user added: "Oh no! Another bottle of whisky ordered thanks to this website."

The Amazon Echo Dot - third generation - is currently discounted by 40%, priced at just £24.

If you can wait a couple of days though this is very likely to be featured in the Amazon Prime Day sale, based on previous trends. Which means that could be lowered further, possibly under £20 or £10.

The charcoal Echo Dot is Amazon's most popular smart speaker: now with a fabric design and improved speaker for richer and louder sound. Users have the ability to:

Amazon has announced for Prime Day that it will double donations at no extra cost through AmazonSmile for purchases made throughout the two-day shopping event between 12 and 13 July.

Whether shopping online or by turning on AmazonSmile in the Amazon app, eligible purchases made with AmazonSmile will generate a double donation to a customer’s chosen charity. Customers can learn how easy it is to shop with the Amazon app at smile.amazon.co.uk.

John Boumphrey, Country Manager, Amazon UK said:

We’ve made sure Prime Day has something for everyone - great savings for Prime customers, supporting the 65,000 UK small businesses that sell on Amazon, and now doubling the donations for more than 45,000 UK charities that customers can choose to support through AmazonSmile.

“On 12 and 13 July, it’s easy for all customers to use AmazonSmile while shopping online at smile.amazon.co.uk or by turning AmazonSmile on in the Amazon app. You shop, and Amazon donates 1% from the net purchase price to a customer’s chosen charity. These double donations will help contribute to the more than £15 million donated through AmazonSmile already.”

Throughout the entire 48-hour Prime Day event, all eligible purchases made with AmazonSmile will generate a double donation of 1% (typically 0.5%) of the net purchase price to a customer’s chosen charity.

A range of beer machines which will enable you to pour the perfect pint at home may be reduced further for Amazon Prime Day. Some of the machines are already being reduced right now as MEN writer, Bethan, has already noticed.

The Salter draft machine has seen its price cut by five per cent, taking it down from £178.99 to £169.99 - making it £20 cheaper than the Philips version that Aldi are currently stocking.

The chilled beer dispenser is a freestanding home draft machine and beer tap, which can be used alongside five litre kegs to dispense beer just like it would be served up down the local boozer.

With the machine costing just under £170, and the average price of a pint in the UK around £4.07, drinkers would need to sup 41 pints in order for the product to be cost effective in the long run.

The tap is compatible with any universal carbonated and non-carbonated five-litre kegs, and comes with three CO2 cartridges to dispense fresh, frothy beer chilled between three and six degrees in seconds.

Complete with a removable drip tray to help prevent spills, this home draught machine is perfect for drinks on any social occasion.

It comes in £20 cheaper than the Philips Perfect Draft Machine, stocked at Aldi. This draft machine provides ‘up to 30 days’ of fresh beer and also chills to three degrees.

I've just been sent some exclusive phone deals with HONOR.

On July 12 – 13th HONOR will be slashing its prices on some of its most popular products online for Amazon Prime day. Between July 14th and 18th HONOR will also be cutting its prices for those who miss Amazon Prime Day at Argos and Very.

Their cheapest deal will be on this HONOR X7, which is equipped with a 5000mAh battery, featuring 22.5W HONOR Wired SuperCharge.

It has a 6.74-inch HONOR FullView Liquid Crystal Display screen, and boasts a robust 48MP Quad Camera, allowing users to preserve details and snap stunning shots.

Purpose-built for extended multimedia play, the HONOR X7 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 Mobile Platform, a 6nm advanced processor to deliver a 25% increase in CPU performance.

Their top of the range handset, the Magic4Pro will be reduced to £849.99 instead of £949.99.

Meanwhile, this 128GB Honor50 handset will be slashed to £279.99, and this Magic4Lite will be £249.99 instead of £299.99 for a 5G handset.

One thing we know from previous Amazon Prime Days is that some of the best deals we usually see are on Amazon's own gadgets - which is great news for people who want to upgrade their smart home with Echo or Echo Dots, or pick up a new Fire tablet or Kindle.

The one difficulty when these deals pop up those is understanding exactly which version of a device will work best for you. But help is at hand!

One of our tech experts, Jada Jones, has gone through all the different types of Kindle available currently, rounding up their prices right now and also looking at what they've gone down to in promotions previously so if and when Amazon do reduce the price you can make an informed decision on whether to take the plunge. Jada's full round-up is here.

If you're looking to upgrade your Android phone without signing up to a new phone contract then you may not actually need to wait until Prime Day to get a good bargain on a new device.

Amazon has taken 25% off the cost of some of the newest Google Pixel phones. Google Pixel Ear Buds have also been reduced, with the price dropping 26% to £73.99.

Two phone models have been reduced. Three different coloured 128Gb models of the Google Pixel 6 are down 25% from £599 to £449 with free delivery. For people looking for a larger screen, the Google 6 Pro has been reduced by 24% from £849 to £649 in a range of colours.

5G enabled and with a 50 megapixel camera and a wide-angle lens, the Pixel range is particularly popular with people looking to take high quality images and video.

Both phones are sold as unlocked versions, which gives shoppers a unique opportunity to either pay outright for a new phone while continuing with their existing contract or, to maximise their savings, sign up with one of the best SIM-only deals on the market and use that with their new device.

Both Virgin Media and O2 have launched SIM-only sales this week offering low cost deals for new customers including a £6 a month offering with Virgin Media for unlimited calls and texts and 4Gb data. Meanwhile, O2 's £15 a month deal comes with unlimited calls and texts, 30Gb of data and a host of other extras including international roaming to 75 destinations at no extra charge, six months free Apple Music and a choice of free subscriptions to Prime Video, Disney+ and more.

One of our tech experts, Jada Jones, has gone through the different deals you can currently get on the Amazon Fire tablets. Some of these products are extremely likely to be featured in the Amazon Prime Day sale too, based on their appearance in previous sales.

The Fire 7 is the most basic model of the Amazon tablets and comes in black, denim or pink.

It has a 7" touch screen and the choice of either 16 or 32GB of storage on the device, not only that but it comes with up to 10 hours of battery life. The Fire 7 uses a Quad-core 2.0 GHz CPU system. Typically costing less than £60, it's a bargain for a tablet.

We've exclusively been told that more deals are set to launch on air fryers, pressure cookers and kitchenware on July 12 and 13 from Instant Pot. Here they are below.

Shoppers can snap up this ultimate kitchen appliance - the Instant Pot Pro Crisp - for £80 off. With 11 functions in 1 – pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, sauté pan, food warmer, sous vide, air fryer, roaster, mini oven, grill, and dehydrator – you can cook a range of meals that are sure to impress. It will be priced at £169.99 on Prime Day.

Save £30 on the Instant Pot Vortex 4-in-1 Air Fryer - air fry, bake, roast and reheat meals in an instant. Currently priced at £89.99, the sale price will be £59.99.

Revolutionise the way you cook with 13 one touch programs for delicious meals at the touch of a button on this Instant Pot Duo.

It was £89.99 but on Amazon Prime Day it will be £56.99.

Meanwhile, there's this Corelle 18-piece dinner set which will be reduced by 30%. The non-chip, non-scratch collection looks as good as the day you bought it. Perfect for first home buyers, wedding presents or a treat for yourself, the lightweight and durable collection is a must have.

Good morning and thanks for joining our live blog.

Gemma here! I will be with you throughout the day, updating you on the latest deals Amazon has to offer before the main event next week.

I will also providing you with some useful tips in order for you to get the best out of the sales event, and to hopefully secure the cheapest deal. Below are some key points to get Thursday started:

Bargain hunter Gemma Sherlock has been looking at air fryers to find you the cheapest. Here's what she says:

The cheapest we have found so far is this Tower T17023 model. The 2.2litre air fryer oven has a 30 minute timer, is black in colour and has a rapid air circulation feature.

Priced at £38 currently, the model was originally £44.99 and it may come down even further for Amazon Prime Day. Its rapid air circulation creates crispier textures across your mealtime favourites, is 30% faster than a conventional oven and claims to save up to 50% on energy. There's also a family size version, measuring at 4.3 litres for £59.99, instead of £69.99 - 14% off.

There is a section on Amazon where you can get Prime Day style deals right now.

I'm talking about Amazon Warehouse, where tech such as Apple devices can be reduced drastically. In previously Black Friday sales the Warehouse section has seen further price drops.

The Warehouse section includes smartphones, laptops, tablets, home and kitchen appliances. The products are used, tested by Amazon and then resold with the usual returns options for every Amazon product.

The items come in four different ratings; like new, very good, good and acceptable in order to guide you when buying something.

You can see the Amazon Warehouse sale here.

One of the fun things about Prime Day is, with there being so many different types of products on sale, there's something for everyone in the family - and pets are no exception.

Historically the Prime Day pet deals vary between essentials that you need as a responsible owner and fun gadgets that you never knew you needed but quickly become must-buys.

With a heatwave apparently looming large there's a couple of fun options to keep your best friend cool in the warm weather. This foldable dog paddling pool is 28% off and reduced to £32.50 for the next seven hours or so on a lightning deal, while this £16.99 cooling mat is now 29% off.

Do you need an explainer on the different kinds of deals available during Prime Day and how lightning deals, vouchers and other discounts work? Read our explainer here.

Reduced to £8.49 in a lightning deal, this Eileen and Elisa dog snack dispenser is 35% off for the next nine hours or until stock runs out. But don't worry if you miss it, Amazon have already heavily discounted many pet products ahead of Prime Day to whet your appetite before Tuesday.

Some of the biggest discounts so far are:

30% off this Mora dog crate mattress, available in a range of colours and sizes from £15.29

37% off this Pecute car seat cover and dog hammock, reduced to £25.49 with an additional 10% off voucher available at check out

38% off pet hair removing brushes reduced to £11.89

30% off a Pecute dog treat bag for £13.59 which comes with a collapsable water bowl, dog poo bags and training clicker

24% off low noise Tigticych dog grooming clippers reduced to £21.24 with an additional 5% voucher available at checkout for a limited time

33% off a Winees doggie pet cam reduced to £24.83 with an additional £3 voucher available

You may not want to spend too much in the Amazon Prime Day sales. After all, you may be saving up for some Lurpak.

There are some options for under £10. For example, you can get a pair of wireless earbuds for under £10 at the moment. They are not a 'brand' name but will do for a cheap backup option.

You can also get an Echo Flex, which is a plug-in Alexa device that can work in any normal plug socket. It also has USB connectivity to double as a charger. It is currently under £10 in the sale.

You can also get makeup essentials, toys such as fidget spinners, dog treats and more if you search for the cheapest Amazon Prime deals.

The answer is no. Move over Dyson because Shark is now the king of the Amazon sales.

Shark cordless vacuum cleaners currently have up to 35 per cent off on the Amazon site, and reductions are likely to be even bigger come Amazon Prime Day. If you can't wait that long though, there are offers available now, like this IZ201UK model for £229 instead of £349.99. It features an anti-hair wrap and a 40 minute run time.

Meanwhile, there's the Shark corded stick vacuum cleaner, which also has the anti-hair wrap feature which is reduced from £249.99 to £179, a saving of £70.99. Shark's Anti Hair Wrap Technology actively removes hair from the brush-roll as you clean, helping to keep it tangle-free. Shark's DuoClean floorhead glides across all floors drawing in large and small debris; and its LED headlights illuminate hidden dust.

Kitchen appliances seem to be the main focus for Amazon's early deals and one of the biggest brands around is holding a sale at the moment.

The Ninja 11-in-1 multi cooker is reduced by £90, down from £280 to £190 in the biggest discount in the sale. The six-litre cooker combines steam cooking, pressure cooking and air frying in one unit and says it can cook meals 70% faster than traditional slow cookers.

Other Ninja discounts include 14% off a 5.2-litre air fryer, which is now down to £129. You can also get £50 off a Ninja blender and £10 off a slimline blender and smoothie maker. There is also £20 off a 'perfect temperature Ninja kettle in the sale.

Interestingly, if you go to the Amazon deals page and click on 'devices' the section is almost empty. That is to be expected because Amazon will only discount its own tech on Prime Day itself.

But if you use the Amazon search box you can actually find some good Echo and Echo Dot deals. In fact, the fourth generation Echo Dot is now £29.99, which is the cheapest it has ever been outside of Black Friday.

That is 42% off and I own one of these. I can highly recommend it because it represents a big step up over the third generation device in terms of sound quality. If you want the previous version that is also reduced to £24.99.

You can also get a fifth generation Echo Show, which includes a screen for video calling, for just £38, down from £80.

Before we get to the actual deals it's important you do one thing before diving in.

The two-day event is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. So it goes without saying that if you want to shop the Prime Day sale, you’ll have to have an Amazon Prime account. You can sign up for a free 30-day trial here, or you can pay £7.99 a month or £79 a year.

This is the main mistake people tend to make on the day itself, they are either not signed up to Amazon Prime or not logged in and perhaps don't remember their log-in details.
