Kanye West is selling his Yeezy Gap Collection out of what appear to be "trash bags," and the rapper has been getting some serious backlash because of it. Kanye, who now legally goes by Ye, released a new Yeezy collection in partnership with Gap. The clothing is being displayed in trash bags, making customers sift through the clothes to find their size. Many shoppers took to Twitter to express their feelings about having to dig through the bags to find exactly what they were looking for, but one tweet, in particular, went viral. The tweet that garnered over 64,000 likes stated: "This is how they are selling Yeezy GAP. The sales associate said Ye got mad when he saw they had it on hangers and this is how he wanted it. They won’t help you find ur size too, you just have to just dig through everything"

As more and more people took to social media to express their feelings on the display, Ye finally responded to the controversy. Fox News took it upon themselves to enter the store located in Times Square where Ye spoke to the outlet regarding his decision for the displays. "I'm an innovator, and I'm not here to sit up and apologize about my ideas," he stated, noting, "That's exactly what the media tries to do. Make us apologize for any idea that doesn't fall under exactly the way they want us to think." Many people believed that Ye was mocking homeless people with the display of his new collection, but he says that was never his goal and noted that his message is to "try and challenge traditional conventions and the way we dress, and make clothing that is more egalitarian and not as pretentious."

Though West explained that's the goal, the price point states otherwise, with pieces starting at $60 for a baseball cap. Most of the items featured in the collection range from around $120 to upwards of $300.

When speaking with the outlet, he also pointed out that the bags are not trash bags, but instead, are large construction bags. He noted that the clothing is displayed as such to have customers "informally reach in and help themselves with what they want to buy." You can check out the interview with the outlet below.
